DC Women Kicking Ass

Thoughts, pictures, reviews and other stuff about the women in comics who kick ass. This is a feminist site. Deal with it.
"... just a dreadful little site that just basically compiles lists." - poster/DC Comics forum
"... provides a much-needed voice that is not often heard on traditional comic sites." - Wired's Geek Dad
... she's pretty amazingly ignorant of comics outside of the Batverse and some recent Wonder Woman, and seems pretty clueless about the way the industry works. That and she doesn't write that well at all." anonymous poster, Dreamwidth
" ... a phenomenal blog that's always up to date with female superhero news ..." -Nerdbastards.com

It’s Elvis Presley’s birthday!

"When I was a child, ladies and gentlemen, I was a dreamer. I read comic books and I was the hero of the comic books. … So every dream that I ever dreamed has come true a hundred times."

Elvis Presley in 1970.

Today is Elvis’ birthday and his love of comics and his iconic image have been used in comics many times. The image at the left, by Jeevan J. Kang, is from the limited edition book, “Graphic Elvis.” The book, long sold out, also features art by Paul Pope. You can see some of the images here.

Elvis’ favorite character was Captain Marvel, Jr. Alex Ross paid tribute to that in Kingdom Come with his character “King Marvel”. Later writers would have Captain Marvel, Jr. name Elvis as his favorite singer.

But Elvis’ costume seems to have influenced the costume of other characters through the years.

Better would be seeing Batman as Elvis … wait

That’s by Haverholm

Here’s some videos to get you in the mood to celebrate. First a mash-up from Justice League Unlimited And some Smallville characters channeling Elvis:

Don’t eat too many friend peanut butter and banana sandwiches!
