At C2E2 today DC announced Cassandra Cain will be featured in the mini-series Gates of Gotham, appearing in the first issue. This is apparently the project that prevented her from appearing in the Birds of Prey.
The mini, written by current 'Tec writer Scott Snyder and Kyle Higgins, is solicited as:
When a mystery as old as Gotham City itself surfaces, Batman assembles a team of his greatest detectives – including Red Robin, Owlman, I-Ching and others – to investigate this startling new enigma. As clues are discovered and the mystery deepens, Batman’s team soon finds itself on a journey that explores different eras in Gotham’s history and touches upon notable Gotham families including the Waynes, Kanes, and Elliotts.
This miniseries spins out of recent events in the Batman titles and sets the stage for several exciting storylines in 2011. Additionally, this limited series touches upon mysterious story elements introduced in Grant Morrison’s RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE. Featuring many exciting Batman Family guest stars!
Sharped-eyed readers had already noted that Cass Cain, in her costume, was featured on the cover of the series second issue. (Clockwise as 10 o’clock below). Does the this “set the state for an exciting storyline” for Cass Cain? When interviewed by Newsarama in February Snyder said:
The big players in the book will be Dick and Tim. And there’s a third character we’ll use from the Bat family that we’ll probably keep as a surprise. It’s someone both Kyle and I have a great affection for, and it’s someone I don’t think we see enough of.
