DC Women Kicking Ass

Thoughts, pictures, reviews and other stuff about the women in comics who kick ass.

Could This Actress Be the Next Wonder Woman?

According to reports last week at the TCAs, the CW has yet to see the script for the Wonder Woman show being written by former Wonder Woman comic writer Allan Heinberg. CW head Mark Pedowitz did say they were continuing to cast Diana.

And now comes a report on at least one candidate who has auditioned for the role.

The Evening Express of Scotland is reporting that Scottish actress Amy Manson has made it through two rounds of auditions rounds and is waiting to hear if will be flying to the States. Manson states, “it’s a brilliant script, all about her younger years. It seems a lot edgier than past series.” Manson who is 27 has appeared in two episodes of Torchwood as well as other UK based television shows.

Audition pages for the pilot were leaked to various outlets in December and they showed a younger Diana both on the island and off the island. As the final script has not been handed in it is not clear whether those audition “sides” will be in the final script.

The list of who might play Diana had at least one name cross off its list last week when the CW announced they were picking up pilot with Phoebe Tonkin was named part of the cast for a Vampire Diaire’s spin-off.  Pedowitz said they “hadn’t been about her in terms of Wonder Woman.”

For me, it’s a bit concerning that the Wonder Woman pilot script has yet to be seen by the CW give the project first came to light in September. There’s still time to pull a pilot together, if it is given the green light, but given how rushed the last pilot was and how awful it was, more time is better. David E. Kelley the writer of that project said in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter “We produced it at warp speed and it’s a special effects show and it took more time than we were able to give it.”

Actress Adrianne Palicki was cast in that warp speed moving pilot in mid-February after the pilot has a surprise pick-up late in the season. I would hope we see a new Wonder Woman announced in the next 30 days.
