When DC rebooted their universe for the new 52 they redesigned the costumes of every major character - Superman lost the red underpants, Wonder Woman lost the stars, and even Batman got tweaked. One character remained virtually unchanged - Catwoman. When she popped in the new 52 she was wearing the same costume that Darwyn Cooke had designed for her years before albeit the zipper seemed to be down more than ever before.
But that wasn’t always the plan.
Guillem March actually submitted a variety of new costumes for the character. And not surprising they show are either skin tight or show a lot of skin.
March has posted his sketches on his website and they show some interesting takes.
March says he was told to “keep an open mind” but in the end they stayed with the classic look.
March also has posted the artwork from Catwoman #2 which shows that Catwoman was showing a bit less in his original pencils. On the left we see Catwoman’s panties but they are covered up on the right.
Here’s the final, colored page:
I still hope March posts the original last page of Catwoman #1 which I have been told by more than one source had a similar look for Selina as the pencil imaged on the left.
Hat tip to Lulubonanza on the costumes.
