Today is the un-official start of summer for North America. For those of us who live in places where snow falls regularly it is the start of the weather that gets us through the rest of the year. School is out or will be out soon for students. And for many it is a time of outdoor fun.
I written about the historical bifurcation of superhero marketing before. And as another example to illustrate it here are some items from 1970s that if you were a kid and a fan of female capes you could proudly spend the summer playing with:

You could roller skate on Wondy …

… jump rope with Wondy …

… ride your Wondy Big Wheel up and down the driveway or if you were older …

… hop on your Wonder Woman two-wheeler.
Today? There’s not much. A few action figures. But here are a few things you may want to look at for summer for yourself or for someone else.
Babies can spend the whole summer in onesies and I can’t think of a better one than this one to spend it in:

This is available at Hot Topic.
And for bigger girls …

Not really Wonder Woman (it’s like Wondy and Mary Marvel mashed up. But not in a Grant Morrison Final Crisis way) but close enough. This is available at Splish.
And to protect yourself from the sun, you could wear one of the many baseball caps featuring female capes such as this Batgirl one from SuperHeroStuff.

OR you could look dapper as hell in this:

Available at Amazon.
There are a lot of t-shirts with female capes available but I don’t there is a more lovely one than this for Summer. This on sale now for 20% off at the WB store.
