I did an interview with Wired this week and they asked me what I thought DC did wrong when it came to female characters. Here’s what I said:
If I had to pick the most obvious thing they do wrong is they let artists go crazy with the sexualized poses and ridiculous body shapes. Not all women have huge boobs. Most women do not stand so you can see both their ass and their boobs. No matter how great the writing is on a book, I still wince, as do many other readers both male and female, when they see that kind of art in a book.
And here we are less than 48 hours later with the October solicits. Yesterday we saw the cover for Jason Todd and the Outlaws #2 which featured this:

And now we have the cover for Suicide Squad #2 which features this:

And now here’s the full cover to SS #2

Remember that first cover?

But the time we get to the fourth cover, Harley may be flashing her headlights.
There was more boobalocity on other covers.
And we aren’t haven’t seen them all the solicits. Yikes!
they should make Psyclocke into a movie. That would...a kick ass movie to watch if they...
This is gettin ridiculous. Boobtober. Boobmageddon. Boobtown usa population boob. Boobsplosion. Boobmcbooberton....
oh god Harley’s boobs just double in sized!!!
So much facepalm. Also there’s some funky anatomy happening with Harley’s breasts on that second Suicide Squad cover....
Oh jeez, how could anyone fight in those costumes?
