Are you a woman who reads comics? Mark this date!

International Read Comics in Public Day will be held on Sunday, August 28th and once again I will be coordinating a concurrent Women Read Comics in Public online event. Last year’s event was very popular and I would like to double the amount of participants in this year’s.

I have a new Tumblr, Women Read Comics in Public, Too, already set up for the event. Like last year I am asking for people to submit pictures of women reading comics — in public! You can submit yourself, your mom, sister, niece, daughter, wife, girlfriend. You can check out last year’s event to see what kind of pictures were submitted. 

There has been lots of discussion over the last weeks over women and the comics industry. This site will provide a visual reminder that female readers are an important demographic in comics.

As an aside I am looking for a logo for the event. If there are any artists who would like to volunteer (and this year I am asking for a female artist as I had a wonderful piece from Mike Kevan last year), please let me know. Any questions on the event can go to me at dcwomenkickingass@yahoo.com.
