If We Put Them on Everything They’ll Have to Do SOMETHING: Zazzle Opens Super Best Friends Forever Store
Over a few months of hearing nothing about the ESBUFFS (aka Super Best Friends Forever) there’s been two signs that the series may not be dead and gone.
The SBFF are, of course, the trinity of Supergirl, Wonder Girl and Batgirl from the fantastic animated short series done by Lauren Faust for DC Nation. Unfortunately Cartoon Network only made a few shorts and Faust then told me she wasn’t available to do more. But she also told me, “Who knows what the future holds?”
Earlier this week, DC Comics unveiled their SDCC exclusives and the SBFF were included. And then yesterday DC unveiled the SBFF Zazzle store where you can buy just about anything with the SBFF on it including mouse pads, mugs, phone cases, and, of course, t-shirts. You can get all the SBFF together. (And in different poses).

So what does this mean for the SBFF. Earlier this week when the SDCC pieces appeared I put out a cry for a digital comic from DC trying to drive the demand for it. Faust told me that “there’s always a chance it could happen, BTW…
So here’s what we do. Tell DC you want a digital comic with the SBFF’s! Buy the stuff from Zazzle! And eat Burritos. No wait, do the other two things.
If they are offering merchandise there is a chance. Let’s make it into a reality!

Amethyst, Amethyst and Amethyst!
And suddenly everything is Amethyst. Last week the new 52 comic Sword of Sorcery debuted. It’s expected that this week the new DC Nation short will debut and earlier this week an alternative pitch by the woman behind Womanthology Renae De Liz was posted.
Not bad for a character created almost 30 years ago and gone from comics for 25 years. I’ve got a review of the comic, images and character descriptions from DC Nation and artwork from De Liz’s pitch. So where shall I start? (warning: mention of sexual violence).
DC Nation’s Batman of Shanghai: It’s like TDKR except it’s in China. And set 80 years ago.
DC Nation’s showed the second and thirds parts of their “Bat Man of Shanghai” which is set in 1930s China this weekend. Here in third part, Bat Man, Cat Woman team-up to take Bane. You can see part two here.

Catwoman gets a DC Nation Short
Way back in April I posted that Catwoman would be getting a DC Nation short. And this morning, when everyone thought the season was over, it appeared. The short is by Wolf Smoke from China and it is done in an anime style. And set in the past. And look for a quick nod to a villain appearing with Catwoman on the big screen.

Another mysterious DC Nation: Is there another Wednesday Comics on the way?
Last week DC Nation featured the mysterious portrait of a woman crying. This week all the DC books feature this the images below. I think it’s a teaser for another series like “Wednesday Comics”. I hope so. That was one of the most innovative things DC did last year. What do you think it is?
