Voting is now open. The winner will go up against Oracle in the finals Monday. Voting closes at 7PM EST. Vote early!

The tournament to decide the most kick ass DC woman started with 32 women and is now down to just eight with Renee Montoya’s loss today to Oracle. And what a great set of women enter this round:

By the end of tomorrow two of these women will be eliminated and two will move on to the Final Four. Which two will win and which will lose? The first two match-ups will be posted at 6:45 EST.
Today’s match was never in doubt. When it comes to kick assery and the question of whether mother knows best, the answer is

No. Cass Cain wins this round.
Now an update on the next rounds. Tomorrow is the final match of the Semi/Sweet 16’s. By 6pm EST a winner will be declared in the match between Oracle and the Question. I will then post the match-ups for Tuesday. That’s right, match-ups. Tuesday and Wednesday will have two matches running concurrently. By Wednesday night we’ll have the four competitors for the Final Four matches. Those two matches will be fought on Thursday and Friday, one each day.
By end of day Friday we’ll have the final two competitors decided and on Monday November 1 the final match will take place. (So yeah, no matches on Halloween weekend.)
This is just a heads up. I’ll remind folks again through out the week.
It’s the ultimate mother/daughter throw down as Cass Cain and Shiva go head-to-head to decide who is more kick ass. Voting is open until 8pm EST. And come this evening for an update on the tournament for next week and the Elite Eight and Final Four.

“Diana, Diana, Diana.” I wish I could say this was a close match but it was not. It is clear that when it comes to the sisters Wonder, Diana is the Marcia and Donna the Jan. So Wonder Woman moves on to the Elite Eight. But before you go, two things. First you might want to read this profane and amusing soliquoy by Donna on her life and loss by the always delightful Fuckyeahwonders.
And secondly a reminder that tomorrow is Wonder Woman Day. There is a wide variety of Wonder Woman pieces up for bid on eBay. The proceeds go to support programs for victims of domestic violence. So many states and cities are cutting back on programs and private funding has to fill the gaps. Here is a chance to get some wonderful art and help a great cause. This beautiful piece by Alex Ross of the winner of today’s match currently has the highest bid.

And come back for another family feud tomorrow, when Cass and Shiva battle for a chance at the Elite 8.
A mother of a match-up.
In this corner a woman who fights to protect others. A woman of few words but a big heart. A woman who is one of the best martial artists in the world.

Cass Cain
And in the other corner a woman who fights only for herself. A woman who does not take no for answer. A woman by whom other martial artist are measured.

Lady Shiva.
Voting opens at 8am EST.
It was a very busy day of voting as a one of the oldest female superheroes Black Canary went against one of the newest, Stephanie. While at one point the were dead even, one woman pulled a head and will go on to the next round and that woman is

Black Canary. Come back tomorrow for the Battle of the Wonder Sisters.
It’s going to be a wonderful match-up tomorrow.
In this corner a woman who has had a tough life or rather lives. A woman with a titanic powers. A woman who makes a good friend unless you hurt her family and friends and then she will be your worst enemy

Donna Troy.
And in the other corner a woman who seeks the truth. A woman who may be have been formed from clay but has never had feet of clay. A woman who is both a warrior and a seeker of peace

Diana of Themyscira, Wonder Woman.
It’s Batgirl Stephanie Brown vs. Black Canary Dinah Lance. Oh my. Voting is open until 8PM EST.

Today’s match of Power Girl and Barda was even for a time, but then one woman pulled ahead to win and that woman was

Barda Free. Barda moves on to the next round. Come back tomorrow for Batgirl vs. Black Canary, it should be a fun one!
Another battle of Gotham women although one took a hard traveln’ road to get there. I have to admit, people, this one is very painful.
In this corner, a woman who grabbed her second chance to become the hero she knew she could be. A woman who fights without fear (except for the occasional cry of “crap!”) A woman who Oracle has on speed dial

Batgirl, Stephanie Brown.
In the other corner, a woman who grabbed her second chance to become the hero she knew she could be. A woman who is one of the top martial artists in the world. A woman Oracle has on speed dial (when she doesn’t have to, you know, just nudge her…)

Black Canary, Dinah Lance.
Voting starts at 8am EST.
It’s Big Barda vs. Power Girl. The poll are open until 8PM EST. Please, no ballot stuffing.
Another day of heavy, close voting. Two admirable women who bring well needed representation as well as kick assery to comics. But only one can move to the next round and that woman is

Amanda Waller. Aren’t you glad you don’t have to tell her you didn’t vote for her?
Today’s match is Mia Dearden vs. Amanda Waller.

It was wonderful to see some much enthusiastic campaigning for two awesome women today. I hope to see as much tomorrow when Mia Dearden faces off against Amanda Waller. But in the end, only one woman can move on to the next round and that woman is

Lois Lane.
