I saw this mentioned on Twitter this morning and I don’t think I ever posted about it. Many years ago writer Beau Smith was commissioned to do a DC Comics/Dark Horse cross over with Wonder Woman and Xena. The project got to some art pages by Eduardo Barreto and a script. The project was killed by an incoming Dan Didio due to Xena ending its television run. But here’s a link where you can see some pages and read the outline. I know a few pros including Gail Simone read the script and loved it.

It’s Lucy Lawless’ birthday and I have declared her an honorary DC women who kicks ass. Ragnell has just reminded me of the proposed Wonder Woman/Xena crossover comic that Beau Smith did back in 2001. It’s a fun script and yet another thing that makes you scratch you head and go “huh” when you hear it wasn’t done.
Why wasn’t it done? Dan Didio came on board DC afterthe book was written and paid for and cancelled it as Xena television run had ended and “it wasn’t in their best interest.”
Moving on.
It’s was a 48-page prestige style book with Eduardo Barreto on art. Here’s a page but you can go and read the script and read more here.

Today is Lucy Lawless’ birthday and I have declared her an honorary Kick-ass DC woman. Here’s some video showing her playing Wonder Woman in the animated feature based on Darwyn Cooke’s The New Frontier.
Done as a variant of issue #2 cover of the Dynamite comic series in 2007. Amazing. Did you guess whose birthday it is today?
